Women in Tech® 100 Top Speakers 2023

Before working with the UN, I was a Biology teacher and worked on teacher/curriculum development. Co-authoring a children’s science book and co-writing a children’s play have been among my favourite achievements to date!

l have just moved to Bangkok, where I am working as Regional Director for UN Women covering Asia-Pacific. I am enjoying getting to know this large and diverse region, working with a superb leadership team to serve all women and girls.

Avanti was interviewed by Randi Zuckerberg Influencer, CEO & Founder of HUG and former marketing director, Facebook, for her podcast ‘Dot Complicated’ in 2018. Avanti has been featured in Tech Talks podcast by legendary David Savage, Group Technology Evangelist, Nash Squared in 2017. In 2022, Avanti featured in EU Code Week podcast.

Earlier this year, Avanti won the ‘honorable award’ and 1st place for International Delegates at the Largest Science Exhibition in Portugal for a software Studified™ she developed. She was also honored by receiving the ‘Aspiring Teen Award’ at the Women In Tech Europe Awards and representing Europe as a finalist for the Women In Tech Global Awards.

Recently, Avanti delivered the closing keynote at Codemotion Milan on October 25th, 2023, the day after World UN Day, where the UN’s headquarters were illuminated with the goals on the topic of “How the SDGs can learn from the journey of Technology”.

Under Ayumi’s leadership, Women in Tech® Global operates on four pillars: education, business, digital inclusion, and advocacy. Born in Brazil to a Brazilian mother and Japanese father, Ayumi’s diverse upbringing shaped her beliefs. Moving to South Africa during apartheid, she witnessed injustices and discrimination, fueling her desire to challenge oppressive norms based on gender and race.

In 2008, Ayumi transformed her life by learning to code through self-teaching. This newfound digital skill not only improved her personal life but also led her to create her first company. In 2018, she founded Women in Tech® Global, impacting the lives of women and girls worldwide.

As an international expert in women empowerment, Ayumi speaks at global events, including PauseFest, TEDx Ist, UFM Business Forum, GMI Summit, and LEAP. She inspires audiences to challenge the status quo and embrace diversity in the tech world.

Previously, she was the Managing Director of the Greater Paris Investment Agency (2002-2016) to attract global investments to the Paris Region. As Director of International Affairs of Greater Paris (1985-2002), she created the Metropolis and implemented cooperation between Paris and 20 global capitals.
Chiara is a member of the European Economic and Social Committee for France and member of the Arab International Women’s Forum. She is also a member of the Board of Advisors for OECD and BSR’s Business for Inclusive Growth.

In 2019, she was nominated as the French Foreign Trade Advisor. She has been independent board member of RATP and APRIL.
She has been selected among the 100 more influential women in the world.

She was also awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur by Christine Lagarde (2009) and Ufficiale della Stella d’Italia by President Sergio Mattarella (2015).
