The Women in Tech Global Summit is a 2 day event that will be held in Paris on the 5th and 6th October 2020. The first edition theme is: “Women Taking Up Space“!

The main goal of this event is to open the discussion on the challenges facing women in technology today and share the success stories that have empowered women and girls around the globe under 4 main pillars: Education, Entrepreneurialism, Social Inclusion, Science and Research. We will focus on finding tangible solutions for bridging the gender gap in STEM and propose actions for decision-makers in response to today’s challenges.

The Summit will bring together 350 people from 40 countries – representatives from industry, government, academia and the non-profit sector. Each delegation will pitch the current situation of Women in Technology in their country, sharing their challenges as well as achievements.

The Summit will give a voice to the women and men that are taking concrete actions, having impact and making change on both a local and global level. It will take the form of panels, keynotes, workshops and round tables.

The Women in Tech Global awards ceremony took place in Lisbon on the 6th November 2019 at the beautiful Foz Palace.

Ada Lovelace is the world’s first computer programmer.

From a young age Ada Lovelace was tutored in mathematics and science. A subject quite unusually taught to women in the 1840s.

Lovelace became a brilliant mathematician, thanks in part to opportunities that were denied most women of the time.

She wrote the world’s first machine algorithm for an early computing machine that existed only on paper.

Lovelace was a visionary. She predicted that machines like the Analytical Engine could be usedto compose music, produce graphics, and be useful to science.

Her accomplishments in mathematics made her a pioneer of not only computing, but of women in science.

Now every second Tuesday of October, we shall remember her contributions to science and engineering in the celebration of Ada Lovelace Day.
