Kathy holds the position of Vice Chair at Goldman Sachs Japan, where she serves as Co-Head of Macro Research in Asia and Chief Japan Equity Strategist. Additionally, she is a member of the Asia Pacific Management Committee and the Executive Committee of Goldman Sachs Japan Co., Ltd. Kathy plays a pivotal role in overseeing Launch With GS, the firm’s first for-profit investing initiative with a gender lens. Joining Goldman Sachs in 1994, Kathy swiftly rose through the ranks, attaining the titles of Managing Director in 1998 and Partner in 2000. Recognized for her exceptional contributions, she has been ranked No. 1 in Japan Equity Strategy by Institutional Investor on multiple occasions. The Wall Street Journal has identified her as one of the “10 Women to Watch in Asia,” particularly acknowledging her work on the “Womenomics” theme. In 2014, Bloomberg Markets magazine included her in their prestigious “50 Most Influential” list. Prior to her tenure at Goldman Sachs, Kathy served as the Chief Japan Strategist for Barclays de Zoete Wedd Securities for four years. She also spent two years at the Export-Import Bank of Japan’s Washington, DC office. Kathy holds the role of Policy Commentator for Japan’s Cabinet Office and actively contributes to various Japanese government committees aimed at promoting gender diversity. Kathy’s commitment to societal impact extends to her roles as a Board Member of the Asian University for Women (AUW) Support Foundation, Chair of the Board of Councilors (Japan) for the US-Japan Council, Director of the Fast Retailing Foundation, Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Member of The Nature Conservancy-Asia Pacific Council, and Member of Keizai Doyukai. She further contributes to the Advisory Council for the Japan Society Fund Against Breast Cancer.
